The (Senior) Vice President of Sales – Pharmaceutical is a critically important leadership role responsible for providing management, mentoring and motivation of the field based pharmaceutical industry and healthcare agency sales team to support generating new business, maintaining and growing current and new accounts, and fostering key decision maker relationships, for the purpose of driving advertising sales of digital and print programs with pharmaceutical brand teams and healthcare advertising and media agencies throughout the United States.

The Role You Will Play
  • Leverages strong brand contacts in the Pharmaceutical Industry in the service of revenue growth.
  • Serves as a trusted partner to the President in developing the overall Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Advertising and Media Agency Market Sales Strategy.
  • Serves as an influential and respected leader providing ethical, accountable and actionable leadership to the sales organization.
  • Responsible for development of the overall funnel of opportunities through deal closure for the pharmaceutical and media agency market.
  • Develops and approves territory and customer development plans with direct reports.
  • Owns and delivers against the rollup of annual sales target for the PMA pharmaceutical and media agency sales team, including contributing sales revenue thru his/her own relationships as appropriate.
  • Assures CRM and other company compliance by the sales team.
  • Collaboratively works with peers and management to support delivery of customer requirements.
  • Maintains and raises awareness of the competitive landscape, providing customer feedback to manager and other stakeholders.
  • Participates in trade shows.
  • Assures all direct reports follow-up on marketing and inside sales team leads and conversion of leads to opportunities.
  • Supports team in responding to RFP’s/RFI’s and delivery of proposals to customers.
  • Cultivates and maintains key customer relationships.
  • Provides an effective transition process from deal closure to implementation providing all required knowledge and transparency to teams to deliver customer expectations.
  • Coordinates with analytics to provide ROI analysis of programs to pharmaceutical brands and their respective media agencies.
  • Manages the entire sales process, both internally and externally, enabling transparency and teamwork towards achievement of goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the President.
Background Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 15+ years sales leadership experience selling into pharmaceutical brand teams and/or pharmaceutical brand healthcare and media agencies.
  • Successful candidates MUST have exceptionally strong brand contacts in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
  • Consistent track record of achievement against sales/revenue targets.
  • Proven skills leading a U.S. based sales organization.
  • Existing relationships within pharmaceutical companies and/or pharmaceutical brand media agencies.
  • High emotional intelligence in the collaboration with customers, peers, cross-discipline departments and respective leaders.
  • Creates a culture within the sales department which places a premium on positivity.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong business development and account management experience.
  • Proficient in CRM, MS Office, sales tools and mobile devices.
  • Strong sales metric analysis skills to diagnose and coach sales team to improve performance.
  • Demonstrates behaviors and competencies established for a leader.
  • High degree of initiative, organization, accuracy, sense of urgency and solution oriented.
  • Must possess strong and proven people management skills, including resolving conflict, sales coaching and developing others, promoting teamwork, and performance management
  • Track record that demonstrates personal initiative, sustained tenure yielding success and results in similar leadership roles, the ability to build high performing teams, and the capability to overcome challenges.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to travel 50% or more of work week.
